PSYCHOLOGICAL ORIENTATION

I draw on cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, interpersonal and mindfulness approaches to psychotherapy.  These approaches help clients increase their awareness of the thoughts and feelings that shape their behaviors.  In addition, I utilize other strategies such as EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) and Surf Therapy to help manage and quiet the nervous system and move toward overall wellbeing.

Areas of Focus

Therapy

Quality of life is often compromised by personal, career and/or relationship challenges and transitions.  Symptoms that cause depression, anger, anxiety and other emotional pain can accompany these problems, often outweighing an individual’s ability to cope and effectively attend to daily roles and responsibilities.

Specific Issues

Adolescent and adults come into my therapy practice for a number of different reasons, such as:

Anxiety and Panic; Depression; Difficulty with self-esteem; Grief; Life and college transitions; Management of severe mental illness; OCD; PTSD/trauma; Relationship difficulties; Self-injurious behaviors.

Increased Self Awareness

Clients also come in to increase their self-awareness and confidence and gain a greater understanding of their personal psychology and life choices.  I work with clients collaboratively to find solution which best meet their needs and treatment goals.
